Art knits: The Milkweed Project

Here’s your chance to participate in a thoughtful and lovely art knitting project that has an environmental focus and can be as simple or difficult as you’d like. It aims to “explore connection: between humans all over the world, between humans and nature and between small things and large,” and also looks at how the internet spreads information. It’s actually really fantastic and we’re definitely planning on stitching up something lovely and soft.

I know for me, working in the knitting industry, exhibits like these are really important because they remind me that my knitting isn’t just something that is utilitarian- for a paycheck or for gift giving or to have a great hat that fits my slightly large noggin- but that there’s meaning and beauty in the stitches.

Please visit this link for participant details. And to warn you- the site is absolutely gorgeous and may tempt you to spend the morning reading past entries instead of, you know, getting work done. I’m just saying.
