Historic Farm in the City!

Hey there, kids! It’s your friendly neighborhood Technical Editor, Jenn, guest-blogging.

Today I found out there’s a farm in New York City. Did you know about this? It’s been around for over 300 years and is the only working farm in the city limits. How cool is that?

I didn’t get to go to Maryland Sheep & Wool this year, so I’m jones-ing for some quality sheep time. I think I’m going to have to go visit. It’s not quite the same, but it’ll be fun to see some sheep.

Queens here I come!

If you’re talking about farms in New York City, I trust you included Chinatown. Since Chinatown has immense areas underground from the old days, they utilize these areas to grow leeks in every available space. It’s a stable in their food and makes sense to grow them locally when possible. Since the space is there, leeks are a greta local crop for the restaurants.

It’s a cool farm. Just don’t go on a class trip with a bunch of first graders. Trust me.
